Description
If you're from the South then you probably have memories from the past and present of the wonderful rocking chair on the porch just waiting for you to sit and relax awhile. Front porches with rocking chairs and swings are two of my favorite things.
I captured this beauty at the Oakland Plantation store in Natchitoches, Louisiana. The Oakland Plantation is now a part of the Cane River National Historical Park. The Cane River National Historical Park was established by Congress in the late 1990's not as a means to glorify southern Plantations and slavery, but to honor the Creole people and culture that created a strong and proud community for over 200 years. Many of their descendants still call this area home.
